About Open to Growth

Opening the doors to my creative endeavours has been a breath of fresh air for my soul and well-being! After a hiatus of almost three years, I've fully immersed myself back into the art studio since February 2022. Letting my creativity flow freely once again has reminded me just how vital the language of art is to my spirit.

As a painter, I wanted to embrace a new challenge and explore the world of freehand machine embroidery. There's something utterly captivating about being able to draw with a sewing machine! Over the past two years, I've delved into creating mesmerizing three-dimensional thread sculptures that have indeed taken on a life of their own.

One particular inspiration that has caught my eye is the Butterfly Weed seed pods. I collected these little wonders from our garden over many years. Each pod represents a different stage, from just beginning to open and releasing its seeds to fully opening after the wind took the seeds away.

I'm thrilled to share the artwork "Open to Growth". It symbolizes the opening of my art studio door and embodies nature's resilience by embracing growth no matter what challenges come our way. Like these delicate seed pods, we, too, have the power to open up and flourish.
