Inspiration

It all started when we decided to create a haven for pollinators in our garden, nurturing a thriving ecosystem bursting with life. Little did I know that this simple act would lead me on an awe-inspiring artistic journey!

Our garden bloomed with the vibrant orange flowers of the Butterfly weed, attracting butterflies and other magnificent creatures. But it was the seed pods they produced that truly stole my heart. Delicate and adorned with intricate patterns, they beckoned me to explore their hidden secrets. Each pod had a unique story, showcasing nature's unparalleled craftsmanship.

I yearned to capture the essence of these seed pods and bring them to life through my creations. Countless hours of dedication and experimentation finally paid off when I discovered the freehand machine embroidery technique. These humble seed pods transformed into breathtaking 3D shapes, filling me with joy and igniting my creativity like never before.

While the seed pods' natural colours lean towards shades of grey and brown, I craved vibrant hues of dark reds. With the creative freedom at my fingertips, I infused my sculptures with vitality and energy, capturing the physical form and emotional connection I felt with these natural wonders.
